Every September Asti transforms for the Douja d'Or, the national wine fair: for ten days the historic centre fills with stands, tastings and visitors from all over Italy. It's the perfect time to discover Piedmont's great reds, and also to stop for dinner at a Piedmontese restaurant in the centre.
Our advice is simple: after tasting Langhe and Monferrato wines, choose a cuisine that truly tells their story. Dishes like the agnolotti del plin, the brasato al Barolo and the tajarin with meat ragù were born to accompany those wines: full guide on our Piedmontese cuisine in Asti page.
La Douia, on Piazza Medici 27, is a two-minute walk from Piazza Alfieri and the heart of the event. During the Douja we recommend booking a table a couple of days in advance. Back to the La Douia homepage for hours and contacts.
