The Palio di Asti is one of Italy's oldest historic horse races: the first Sunday of September the twenty districts compete in Piazza Alfieri before tens of thousands of people. After the race, the centre slowly empties between district dinners and parades — the right moment to sit down at the table.
After such an intense day, the mind goes to a menu that tells of the territory: vitello tonnato as a starter, agnolotti del plin with roast sauce, a brasato with soft polenta and a glass of Barbera. Find our full menu on the menu page.
La Douia is on Piazza Medici 27, a few minutes' walk from Piazza Alfieri: for the after-Palio we recommend booking in advance. Learn more about the restaurant on the Piedmontese restaurant in Asti page or back to the homepage.
